I genuinely think this is the best comic I've read so far. It's in my number 1 spot for being the best written thing I've ever read. It's the story of a gay man in the 1940's going through so much hardship and coming out the other end stronger and more noble. He feels he is a sinner and a deviant until he meets a transwoman named Bobbie. She's not allowed to express herself and is constantly misgendered by everyone, but she's still a joy to be around and thoughtful. They lobotomize her. This shatters Alan's worldview and he escapes. He has an emotional scene with The Spectre. He tells him that God does not see him as evil and that God's judgement is for people who harm others and they embrace. I wanted to fucking cry pretty much the whole time I read this, but I was at work, so I had to hold it together.
The artwork is immaculate. Every panel is drawn beautifully. I'm definitely going to have to read more comics drawn by Cian Tormey. The writing was also completely solid as well. I don't know what Tim Sheridan is on, but he writes so fucking good.
